FRIDAY PRACTICE Breathe || How does a deep breath affect your spirit?

If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you’ve likely heard me say in a calming voice, “Take a deep breath in and release it slowly.”

A deep breath is our entry point into calming, slowing, centering, being attentive to God’s presence; but how does a deep breath affect your spirit? 

For me, there is something powerful about the first deep breath. It is filled with intention and desire to be present to God or myself in this precise moment. As I feel my lungs expand, I often feel an openness in my spirit, a sense of relief, an affirming yes. This first deep breath is a gift to my spirit as it opens the way to the freshness of this new moment and new possibilities.
