101 | Life Disruptions
Life can feel like a lot sometimes. What if instead of feeling overwhelmed or powerless, you could be well in the midst of life’s disruptions?
Life disruptions are events, choices, or situations that interrupt or alter the typical rhythms of your life and consequently contribute to feelings of stress, disregulation, or overwhelm.
Life disruptions can be:
any length of time from a day or two to an extended season or permanent change;
chosen or happen to you;
positive or negative;
caused by something in your own life or in the life of someone close to you.
A life disruption might look like:
A sudden change of plans because of a sick kid or change in childcare
A demanding season at work
A physical or mental health diagnosis
A job loss or transition
Adding a person to your family
A child starting school or launching into their adult life
Taking a trip or going on vacation with your family
The loss of a relationship
Developing a new habit or learning new skills
Juggling needs or change on multiple fronts in your life.
What makes life disruptions stressful is the need to figure things out in a new way, to adapt our usual ways of doing things to accommodate this new reality—even for a short time, and especially over a longer period of time.
Our mission here at Cultivating Sanctuary (SM) is to equip you to create space for a renewing, abundant life—even amidst life’s disruptions.
It’s about developing the infrastructure of our lives so that when life gets challenging or complicated we have skills, habits, routines, and resources in place that make responding and acting with intention easier and more intuitive.
