078 | Serving Those We Love
What does it look like to serve the people we love?
It might look like a thousand different things, but at our house last Saturday morning it looked like my husband, Andrew, singing the story of Ariel from “The Princess Encyclopedia” library book for our 7-year-old over breakfast. (Definitely turn the sound on for the video! 😂🥰 He gave me permission to post it.)
We serve others when we cultivate sanctuary in our relationships.
✨We do this by creating safe space that honors the beautiful uniqueness of each person.
✨ We do this by practicing hospitality, even within our own families.
✨ We do this by making room for someone else’s needs, anxieties, emotions, interests, desires, hopes, and dreams.
✨ We do this by making room for laughter, play, silliness, and not taking ourselves too seriously.
✨ We do this by being vulnerable, authentic, and open.
✨ We do this by doing our own work around our own hurts and wounds.
✨ We do this by stepping out of our comfort zones and exploring new possibilities.
✨ We do this in different ways in different seasons of life and different seasons of our relationships.
Thank you, my love, for all the ways you embody these and continually cultivate sanctuary in our life together. Happy birthday, Andrew!
Friends, how will you serve someone you love this week?
