046 | A Closet Reboot
This is Ruby. She’ll turn two this week. Wherever I am at home, she’s close by or right at my feet. Today I’m taking the old shelves out of the coat closet off our Mudroom so I can install a better system that is way more functional for life as we actually live it. Ruby is keeping a close eye on my activities.
I have two closet redo projects going at once. It might seem like a lot, but it gives me the freedom to consider the bigger storage strategy in our home. Without a clear plan for what goes where, both of these spaces quickly become cluttered dumping grounds and consequently suck energy from my spirit. I’m hoping to change that. I don’t expect things to be perfect. I do hope that giving everything a clear place will make it harder to dump things and easier to create order when we do.
This project is a way of cultivating sanctuary in our home. When our spaces function well (and trust me, it will be pretty too), it frees up brain space by needing to make fewer decisions and frees up time and energy to invest in things that feed our hearts and souls.
What space do you wish would function better?
How would you feel if that issue were addressed in a way that better served your life?
