023 | A Simple Unburdening

Before

After

I love to cook. Well, I love to cook when I’m not pressed for time. (Why is it so hard to make dinner EVERY day?) This cupboard is to the right of the stove and above the counter where I set everything out mis-en-place style as I prepare to cook. It has frustrated me for awhile—especially the hodgepodge of bottles on the top shelf, many of which I could only reach with cooking tongs, and the over abundance of aging spices. ⁣

Cleaning out this cupboard has been on my to-do list literally for months. There have been so many times I’ve thought “I 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 just get that done,” but for whatever reason didn’t. Until this morning. ⁣ ⁣

I emptied the cupboard, wiped everything down, sorted and purged the contents and put things back in a way that will serve me better when I’m cooking. Guess what—this little project that has been a mental burden for months took me about 30 minutes. The result? I feel lighter. This unburdening is how I’m cultivating sanctuary today.⁣ ⁣

What small or simple task can you complete in the next few days that would lighten your mental load and free a mental burden?⁣
